#DOCavaTalks with Agustí Torelló Mata

We are delighted to share with you a new instalment of #DOCavaTalks. In this series, we bring you the latest news about Cava in interviews conducted by David Jobé, who talks to some key personalities in the sector.

Our third guest is Agustí Torrelló Mata, one of the pioneers of oenology in Spain, and founder and president of Agustí Torrelló Mata. Would you like to know what legacy this winemaker wants to leave to the world of Cava?

Agustí was born into a family of musicians and tailors, and early on in life he dedicated himself to winemaking, after qualifying as a winemaker in Requena (Valencia) and as an oenologist in Valdepeñas (La Mancha). He opened the first private wine analysis laboratory in Sant Sadurní.

Throughout his life, Agustí has travelled to more than 20 countries to learn about wines and sparkling wines. He was the first president of the Confraria del Cava [Cava Brotherhood], an entity that promotes quality sparkling wines. Devoted to Cava, he designed one of the most iconic bottles: Kripta.

Today he continues to work tirelessly alongside his children, Gemma and Álex, who now run the winery.
